Digit Fidget: A Fun and Easy Way to Massage Your Whole Body

My family has been enjoying our new found device – “a digit fidget.” As you can see from the picture, it is a small woven wire ring that fits around your finger. As you role it slowly up and down each finger, the points from the wire gently massages your finger to relax and calm your whole body.

It is hard to believe, but it works amazingly well. We first discovered it this summer at a local store. The sales person told us that her boss uses it before presentations to help calm her nerves. Others use it to help relieve anxiety, ADHD, soreness, fatigue, the pain from arthritis, among other things.

From an energetic point of view, it really is massaging your entire body. We all have energy pathways running throughout our bodies. These pathways, called meridians, run from our various organs and body systems with many ending at our fingers, toes, and teeth. These are the same points that are used during a bio-energetic assessment. (Refer to this article for more information on how your teeth are also connected to the rest of your body.)

Your pointer fingers, for example, consist of multiple points that energetically run through your body to the large intestines and the nervous system. When you stimulate the various points up and down a pointer finger using the digit fidget, you are essentially stimulating your large intestines and your central and peripheral nervous systems at the same time.

It really is calming! We have found it even more effective if you can have a family member or friend move the device up and down your fingers for you.

Here is a list of fingers and which organs and body systems are connected to them:

Thumbs – Lymphatic System and Lungs
Pointer Fingers – Large Intestines and Nervous System
Middle Fingers – Vascular System (Circulation) and Allergic Processes (or environmental sensitivities)
Ring Fingers – Cellular Metabolism and Endocrine System (including adrenals and thyroid)
Pinky Fingers – Heart and Small Intestines

If you are trying to target a specific organ or trying to relax your nerves, you can concentrate on that particular finger.

We have tried a few different brands and have found our favorite is “Figet for Your Digit” by Relaxus. (Others are woven too tight so they do not provide the same multiple-point effect and some are covered in smelly plastic.) The Relaxes brand is available on-line here. These are great for kids too but please note that if they are pulled and stretched out, they are ruined, so supervision may be necessary.
