“By similar things a disease is produced and through the application of the like, it is cured.
– Hippocrates (“Father of Medicine”)

Homeopathy has been around for over 200 years. It began with a physician named Samuel Hahnemann, who became disillusioned with the crude medical practices of his day, which consisted of bleeding, purging, burning of the skin with strong chemicals, and dosing with untested medicines. Viewing these procedures as unnecessary and cruel, he began a quest for harmless cures. This led him to discover the “Law of Similars” or “like cures like symptoms.” Hahnemann discovered that any substance that produces disease-like symptoms in a healthy person will cure those same symptoms in a sick person if given in small amounts, amounts that are significantly diluted.

Homeopathic remedies utilize natural substances which are broken down into minute quantities to stimulate the natural defenses of the body. The body makes amazing and impressive efforts to heal itself, but it is not always strong enough to complete the healing process. By triggering the body’s own self-healing abilities, homeopathic remedies effectively treat everyday ailments, including acute and chronic symptoms of mind and body. When a person’s body is properly stimulated, balance and healing can take place, all the way to the cellular level.

In the United States, homeopathy fell out of favor by the early 1900s. However its use continued in other parts of the world, especially Europe, India, and parts of Asia and Latin America. It is gaining popularity again in the United States.
